Lieu:

Institute of Ethnomusicology, University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG)

Programme:

The Symposium is organized by a group of scholars within the ICTM that works with a transdisciplinary mindset within the wide fields of Ethnomusicology and Ethnochoreology. To connect researchers, the Institute of Ethnomusicology of the University of Music and Performing Arts hosts the 1st Symposium on Scientific Approaches in Sound and Movement Research in Graz, Austria.

The core subject of the group is research of sound and/or movement which is based in inter- or transdisciplinary approaches incorporating the wide spectrum of the different sciences. This includes fields such as natural sciences, technology, engineering, mathematics and formal sciences, social sciences, cognitive sciences and many more. It aims at bringing together scholars in ethnomusicology, ethnochoreology, or the anthropology of music and dance, who apply research approaches located at the interface of their own fields of study and the above-mentioned disciplines. Furthermore, it seeks to support the promotion and dissemination of already existing research as well as triggering new projects, and fostering cooperations and mutual support in such transdisciplinary projects.
