EMSAN/JSSA Day 2016

Call for Papers

The Japanese Society for Sonic Arts (JSSA) and the Electroacoustic Music Studies Asia Network (EMSAN-IReMus) are glad to announce the Joint EMSAN/JSSA Day 2016 symposium. After six editions during the Musicacoustica-Beijing festival with the Electroacoustic Music Association of China (EMAC) and the China Electronic Music Center  (CEMC), it will be the 9th EMSAN symposium and the second time it is held in Japan. Last year, JSEM (Japan Society of Electronic Music), JSSA and EMSAN joined forces in Gifu (Japan). This year, it will be held during the JSSA Music Festival 2016.

Themes

Paper presentations are welcomed concerning any topics of Electroacoustic Music in Asia. For instance, during the JSSA/EMSAN Day, presentations can be given on research on electroacoustic music history, aesthetics, analysis of a piece, social aspects, terminology, taxonomy, sound ecology, genres and styles, pedagogy, research trends...
 

Guidelines for Submission

Submissions can be made by uploading the abstract and the bio with a photo at these addresses BEFORE July 15th, 2016 : marc.battier@paris-sorbonne.fr  AND mikakom@sda.nagoya-cu.ac.jp
 
The duration of a paper presentation should be 20 minutes followed by a question period of 5 minutes. Standard presentation equipment will be provided including a video projector and stereo sound system.
 
Language : Presentation can be made in either of English, Japanese, Chinese or Korean. Presentations in a language other than English must have abstracts and projected slides written in English.
 

Paper Submissions

Abstracts should be written in English in 300-1000 words, headed with:
          > author name(s) and title
          > organization affiliation (if any)
          > contact address: email address
A program containing the paper abstracts will be distributed at the symposium.
 

Proceedings

The presentations will be published after the event on the EMSAN-IReMus Web site, in PDF format, in the peer-reviewed symposium proceedings.

The  Joint EMSAN/JSSA Day 2016 symposium is supported by the Japanese Society for Sonic Arts (JSSA) and the French Institut de Recherche en Musicologie (IReMus).  No fee is required in taking part in the symposium.
